My writing, publishing, and life goals for the next year

It’s going to be a busy, busy year!

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE. REVISE, REVISE, REVISE. QUERY, QUERY, QUERY.
I will finish this next round of revisions, fill the plot holes, and start querying this middle-grade urban fantasy that I’ve been working on forever. I believe in this story and its characters, and I need to see it through. Recently, I have connected with a group of online MG writers that might be the fresh sets of eyes that I need to finish this leg of the project. I also have teaching myself how to write picture books, and I have 5-6 strong drafts that are almost ready for prime time.

I’M NOT BUILDING A WRITER'S PLATFORM, I’M BUILDING A WRITING/READING COMMUNITY.
In the next year, I will continue to engage, connect, and celebrate other writers. I will attend at least one conference, but I also want to partake in smaller events, like book launch parties, signings, online forums, and blog tours. I want to celebrate the successes of others, by writing reviews for the books I appreciate and love. I will evolve my newly launched website and blog, continue to nurture my twitter feed, and expand my Instagram, author FB page, Goodreads account, and more in 2018. I also want to volunteer and give back to my communities.

KEEP LEARNING, KEEP GROWING, KEEP WRITING.
I will look for new ventures, projects, and resources to fuel my progress and writing. I want to read more in the genres that I write and the ones that I seek to explore in the future. I’m definitely keeping my #100picturebooks project moving forward, documenting my process and key observations to share them with other writers. Again, I will attend conferences and workshops, and find new way to maximize critique to reach my objectives.

“FIT, FABULOUS, AND FAMOUS FOR MY WRITING BY 40-SOMETHING”
The clocks ticking on this one, but I’m dusting off the personal mantra that I wrote years ago and I’m going after it, full throttle. I need to up my exercise game, eat better, and continue to downsize and declutter. I’d like to open myself up more for travel, new friends, and success in the year ahead. I want to worry less, laugh more, and surround myself with vibrant, happy people. Maybe, develop some new hobbies: hiking, biking, get back to creating art. I believe that in working to become a more well rounded person, I will have a positive effect on my writing, spark creativity, and see progress on my publishing journey.

ASK, BELIEVE, WORK HARD, AND RECEIVE. Here’s to a bright and productive new year!
